Open House

On October 11, 2008 the weather was beautiful as church members and visitors alike ate burgers from our chuckwagon and sang along with our Friday Folksingers . The Open House at Community Unitarian Universalist Church of Plano was actually an all-church celebration of community. Information tables, choir concerts and activities for kids drew positive reviews from visitors, and seventy-five members of the congregation lent a hand while getting their own updates on the many activities we have under way.

Our community gardeners were weeding, tilling and harvesting, but were glad to take time out to talk about this important mission of our church. We provide produce to many food pantries and other organizations serving neighbors in need.

Many of our visitors returned for worship on Sunday morning. They were unanimous in their appreciation of the warmth and genuineness with which they were welcomed and the wealth of information that was communicated. It was clear that we are proud of our church and eager to tell visitors why we have chosen Community UU to be our church home.

We’re reflecting on the open house with a smile of accomplishment and are already planning our next one.
